Country Highlights En Route

Skocjan CavesSkocjan Caves

This exceptional system of limestone caves comprises collapsed dolines, some 6 km of underground passages with a total depth of more than 200 m, many waterfalls and one of the largest known underground chambers. The site, located in the Kras region (literally meaning Karst), is one of the most famous in the world for the study of karstic phenomena.

Julian AlpsJulian Alps

A view of the Soca and the upper Sava river valleys spreads below Mount Triglav, Slovenia's highest mountain. Lying between the two rivers is Triglav National Park, which protects numerous endemic animal and plant species in a region of high rocky mountains, deeply cut river gorges, high-mountain karst shafts, and attractive low mountains as well as the traditions of the once difficult life of mountain farmers and alpine dairymen. Lake Bled Lake Bled

Natural and historical features, beauty of the country and good geographical location, just near the Alps, make Bled and countryside an ideal place to visit. Bled has a mild, sub-Alpine climate. It is protected from the northern winds with the ridges of the Julian and Karavanke Alps.
